Description
Freesia is a perennial spring bulb of the iris family,
native to South Africa and later brought to Europe,
where it came into quiet fashion during the Victorian era.
Many recognise it first through scent.
A crisp sweetness — like the first bite into a pear — unfolds gently,
followed by a hint of rain-damp moss,
green and softly alive.
Light yet vivid, freesia has long remained a discreet muse to perfumers.
When a fragrance opens with a freshness
reminiscent of a pear blossom edged with thorns,
it is often the presence of freesia revealing itself.
Its floral language speaks of care and trust.
Closely tied to weddings, friendship,
and the small ceremonies of everyday life,
it is a flower made for giving.
